My mission is to assist writers in realizing their potential as published authors. To that end, I offer a variety of writing services, including...

Manuscript Critique: I will read you manuscript and provide feedback on strong and weak points. For both fiction and nonfiction, this means an evaluation of the 5 Ws—the Who? What? When? Where? and Why?—of your narrative and how clearly these are presented.
Coaching: If you need help as you write, we can set up a schedule of meetings (face-to-face or virtual) to discuss any manuscript as it progresses, from concept through final draft.
Content editing: This includes reading through a completed manuscript and making detailed comments along the way as I find questions/inconsistencies within the text.
Line editing: This includes a painstaking correction of all punctuation, spelling, grammar, and syntax errors. I will also adjust paragraph breaks for clarity.
Proofing: The final step before submitting a manuscript, this includes cleaning up everything that was missed in previous readings.
Ghostwriting: If you have an idea for a story or novel, or a great deal of information for a nonfiction piece, I can use your notes, videos, images, etc. to write a manuscript for you. My goal is always to present your ideas/information in your own voice, and you are credited as sole author of the work.
Back-of-Book Indexing: The content of nonfiction books of any length and depth can be more easily accessed by readers when they have a back-of-book index. A good index includes terms and cross references beyond what the author uses within the text in order to help readers—both experts and novices—find the information they need.

Level of scholarship
Inclusion of foreign words & names
Intended audience
Inclusion of tables, illustrations, etc.
Inclusion of footnotes/endnotes

Providing me with sample pages will allow me to estimate a fair cost for the needed work.

Proofreading, Editing, & ghostwriting: Charges are per word; rate will depend upon the quality of the original writing and level of scholarship.
Critiquing & Coaching: Charges are per word plus hourly for one-on-one sessions either face-to-face or by phone.
Indexing: Charges are per indexable page; rate will depend on the level of scholarship and the number of terms per page needed.
